A wedding podcast where Hindsight Bride’s Christie O. and I tell it like it is. Real brides, real stories, real prices. And a little drinking. New episodes come out once a month. Find us in iTunes or Blubrry!
Episode 1: Don’t Sugar Coat It! - In which we introduce ourselves and I sound heavily medicated due entirely to nerves. What we’re drinking: Mintless Mojito (HB) & L’Aventure Rose (RB).
Episode 2: Forget the Cake, Let Them Drink Booze. - In which we talk cake with Blackmarket Bakery’s bad-ass baker, Rachel Klemek, who tells us why she doesn’t do wedding cakes anymore. I also get great tips on how to order a wedding cake that actually tastes good. What we’re drinking: Mimosas (HB) & Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar (RB).
Episode 3: The Devil’s in the Details – In which we discuss the controversy surrounding details (too many? too much of the same thing? is it time to step away from the mason jars?), the heated debate that raged over “Dear Wedding Bloggers, You Suck,” Jonas Peterson’s “Mason Jar Manifesto.” Special guest is Todd Reichman, an Atlanta luxury wedding photographer and photography business blogger. What we’re drinking: champagne.
Episode 4 – Dressing Down the Dress Industry – In which we dish with Cris from Kiss My Tulle and Louise from TheThirtySomethingBride about everything from free dresses (seriously!) to David’s Bridal to high-end couture, to WTF is going on in China? I’m pretty sure I was drinking a classic gin martini. Episode can be found on iTunes and via Christie’s blog (linked above).
Episode 5 – Can You Have a Big Wedding on a Little Budget? – In which we talk money with FrugalWedding’s Lindsay, one of our favorite, smartest, sassiest bride bloggers. She rips the wedding industry a new one, and states exactly how she’s budgeting for her special, and frugal, day.
Episode 6 – The Perfect Wedding, Or, Maybe Not: Rogue Bride Gets Married – Possibly the most hilarious episode we’ve done to date, in which we talk about my very real wedding. The did’s, the didn’ts, the should haves, and the shit that went down. Christie was drinking her usual half-bottle of wine, while I was imbibing a lemon-pear-rosemary martini. Or two.

I just LOVE all the kool-aid cocktail episodes and it got me thinking how it’d so cool to have a skype meet up with other engaged women (with or without cocktails). Especially for ladies, like myself, who are planning weddings from a distance without their bridal party being local to them to bounce ideas off, craft with, vent (about planning complications) etc.
Any ideas on how I could facilitate this? I just dunno where I’d post to find the right audience.
That is a terrific idea – I’d love to put the idea out there on our next BKCH episode. What I’d recommend you do is start a Facebook Fan Page with a catchy title, like “The Sane Wedding Planning Support Group” or something, then start reaching out to bloggers like me to promote it. Then you can announce Skype sessions on the Facebook page (most brides are on FB versus Twitter). A word of warning though – getting a lot of women in on the same Skype session can be a headache – that’s how we do the BKCH show, and for a podcast, it’s 4 people max.
Thanks so much for the suggestions, I’m really considering this!!! <3 You rock!
